Parent University: March 22, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Berry Middle School

Hoover Middle/Intermediate Schools Partner to Host "Parent University"

Raising adolescents in our current world can be a very challenging - and oftentimes - confusing journey.  On March 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Berry Middle School will partner with Simmons Middle School, R.F. Bumpus Middle School and Brock's Gap Intermediate School to host a middle school-specific "Parent University."

"Parent University" will:
  • provide important, relevant information to Hoover parents regarding a range of timely topics
  • engage Hoover parents in valuable and respectful dialogue
  • provide a forum in which Hoover parents can ask questions and receive answers relating to parenting adolescents
  • allow Hoover parents with opportunities to seek support and resources for current struggles related to adolescents
Based on feedback from our community surveying, specific topics and session titles will include:
Parenting in the Age of Social Media
Adolescent Stress and Anxiety Management
Apps to NEVER Allow My Child to Use
Teaching Study Skills to Adolescents
Creating Appropriate Parenting Boundaries for Adolescents at Home
Dealing with Bullying and Adolescent Peer Aggression
Navigating the Transition to High School
Current Drug Trends in Adolescents - What to Look For

Additionally, there will be a special presentation for all parents from the Addiction Prevention Coalition, which will present on adolescent-specific drug prevention.  Our schools look forward to providing this very worthwhile and rewarding event!
