Have cancer? Have kids?
Or
know someone that does?
Camp
Kesem is here for you!
(Oh,
and it’s FREE, too.)
Who are we?
We
are the University of South Alabama chapter of a national nonprofit
organization that recognizes and embraces the often-overlooked population of
children affected by a parent’s cancer by providing a FREE weeklong, overnight camp every summer.
Why do we do it?
There
are over 5 million children affected by a parent’s cancer in the USA. Because
they don’t appear sick, their needs are often not addressed—they suffer
quietly, which can have long-lasting negative effects. Camp Kesem is the only
national nonprofit that supports their unique needs. We create a peer support
network for these kids and give them the chance to just be kids again!
Who is eligible to attend camp?
Camp
Kesem is for all children ages 6-16 with a parent of primary caregiver who has
or has had cancer. Camp Kesem does not discriminate based on race, religion, or
socioeconomic status.
