8th Grade Transition to HHS Important Dates

8^th Grade Transition Dates

Tuesday, February 6^th:  8^th Graders Visit Hoover High School (8:30 am - 12:00 pm)

Students learn about various high school programs including academies, advanced classes, fine arts, athletics, extracurricular activities and student life at HHS.  A tour of the high school will be included.  We will leave SMS promptly at 8:15 am. 

Friday, February 9^th:  Hoover High School Counselors Come to SMS

HHS Counselors will provide an overview of 9^th grade course selection and 4-year plans during math classes.

Wednesday, February 14th

9th grade course selection sheets/4-year plans (with teacher recommendations) go home with students to discuss with parents. For questions about a teacher recommendation, please contact that specific teacher.  

Thursday, February 15th: HHS Course Selection and Curriculum Information Night at Hoover High School

Hoover High School is proud to offer a diverse curriculum, and we want parents to be fully aware of the academic opportunities available. All parents of rising freshmen are encouraged to attend!

5:45 - 6:15: Families interested in HHS’s International Baccalaureate Program are invited to attend an informational session in the competition gym.

The following sessions will be available in the lunchroom:

6:30: Rising Freshman Information Session (rising 9th grade)

7:00: Academy Overview (rising 9th grade)

7:30: Earning  College Credit while in High School (open to all grades)

8:00: AFJROTC (open to all grades)

Wednesday, February February 21st: 

9th grade course selection sheets/4-year plans due to team's math teacher.
