Summer Opportunities & Community Service

The Over the Mountain Journal has a fantastic, comprehensive listing of summer camps that will be offered this summer throughout the Birmingham area. The camp listings are divided up by category and include grade levels each camp is geared towards. Please click here for the link to the summer camp issue.  The camp listings begin on page 23.

Also, summer is a great time to pick up Community Service hours!  Below are some ideas (some do have age requirements):

Greater Birmingham Humane Society

Birmingham Botanical Gardens 

Aldridge Gardens

More Ideas: Picking up trash, other church/community projects
Keep the nursery at church (as long as not getting paid), 
Help an elderly neighbor with yard work or moving things.
Prepare a meal for someone who is sick and take it to their house.
Help raise money, food, or clothing for a community or church organization.
Read to children at the hospital or elderly at the nursing home.
Help a teacher before of after school.
